Hello to whomever has come across this blog. My name is Catharine and I’m an Orthodox Christian, wife, and mom of 3. I decided to start this blog because I need some kind of creative outlet. I plan to share about my life as a homeschooling mom to 3 young kids (ages 8, 5 and 3). I started this blog now because I wanted to share about my head covering journey as we enter this Advent season. I have covered my head during personal fasting periods even before I became Orthodox. It’s something that I just love to do. By no means is this me telling women that they have to cover their heads or that they have to cover it during fasting periods. This is simply a personal decision I made and wanted to document it. I’m sure there are other women out there, religious or not, who want to cover their heads but are afraid of judgment, stares, whispers and just have no idea where to start. The wonderful thing with head covering is that you don’t need pashminas, volumizing accessories, or to spend much money on different scarves. I do have quite a bit, but I’ve been spent 10 years collecting them. Most were given to me by my mother, gift cards I received from my bestie, and a couple came from thrifting. I also cover with baseball caps, hair snoods (I think. I honestly don’t know the proper name. could be knit cap?), and since it is winter time, beanies!
Each day I’ll go through what I’m wearing, provide links (if I have them), and how that day of fasting is going. The Nativity Fast for us Orthodox Christians (new calendar) starts on November 15th! Hope some of you tag along!
